Education & Background
Dr. Robert D. Menzies grew up in sunny southern California in Pasadena and graduated from the University of California at Irvine with a degree in biology. After college, he moved to the Lonestar state and earned a degree in exercise physiology from the University of Texas at Austin. After graduate school, Dr. Menzies moved to Houston for medical school and attended The University of Texas at Houston. Dr. Menzies was selected to John Peter Smith hospital’s nationally recognized family medicine residency where he served as house staff president in his last year of residency. Dr. Menzies also completed two prestigious fellowships in sports medicine and pain medicine at John Peter Smith hospital. At John Peter Smith hospital Dr. Menzies served as the medical director of the pain management department for several years. In addition to Dr. Menzies’ love of teaching hospital residents, during his tenure at John Peter Smith hospital, he became expertly proficient in minimally invasive procedures, published multiple research articles, and was a featured international speaker on new pain techniques. Dr. Menzies has consistently been recognized by his peers and nominated as “Top Doc” in Dallas-Fort Worth and who has been named as one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s rising stars.Hobbies & Interests
Dr. Menzies is passionate in working with patients that may have vein disease. He feels that it complements his affinity to understand and explain an undertreated diagnosis along with using his skills in minimally invasive procedures. As Dr. Menzies explains, “I enjoy enhancing the quality of life of my patients who may have been suffering from vein disease for many years”. On a personal note, Dr. Menzies enjoys running with his two Dobermans, reading, traveling and spending time with his wonderful wife, son and daughter.
