Vein disease is a condition that prevents the blood from flowing out of the legs and back to the heart which can cause them to become damaged or diseased. Affecting more than 75 million Americans, if you suffer from this disease you are certainly not alone.

Not only can vein disease be debilitating and even life-threatening in some cases, but it can also result in varicose veins, skin changes, pain, swelling, itching, and more. Luckily, here at Southwest Vein and Leg, we have a variety of treatments that can help you find relief from this disease.

  1. Sclerotherapy

This minimally invasive solution is used to treat either small varicose veins or spider veins. By injecting the veins with a solution (typically saline), it causes the veins to collapse and forces the blood to reroute through healthier veins instead. Once the veins have collapsed and overtime, the vein tissue is reabsorbed by the body and eventually disappears.

  1. RFA

Radiofrequency ablation or RFA is a procedure that uses heat to help ablate dysfunctional tissue in the veins.

  1. ELA

Endovenous laser ablation (ELA) is another minimally invasive procedure that uses laser fiber and ultrasound to heat up the lining of the vein. Once the vein has been heated up, it will collapse, shrink, and ultimately disappear.

  1. Surface Laser

This laser treatment uses focused beams of light to target the affected veins. Because the surface laser is so precise, it won’t affect any of the surrounding tissue, skin, or healthy vessels that are nearby. Once the veins are destroyed, the veins will ultimately collapse, seal up, and become reabsorbed by the body in about four to six weeks.
